EDUCATOR

A passionate educator and mentor -with over two decades of teaching experience, Ashley brings a student-centered approach to dance education, working with dancers across university, conservatory, professional, and pre-professional settings. His students have attend prestigious collegiate programs, including The Juilliard School, Boston Conservatory, University of North Carolina School of the Arts, USC Kaufman School of Dance, and have gone on to build successful careers with major U.S. and international dance companies, on Broadway, and in the commercial dance industry.

SELECT TEACHING CREDITS

He spent seven years as Artistic Director of the UNCSA Classical Ballet and Contemporary Intensives, where he created Dance Connection Now. Most recently, he completed a two-year residency as Visiting Professor at UNCSA, earning a Teaching Excellence Award nomination. Other teaching credits include Escuela Superior de Danza Sinaloa, The Limón Foundation, Steps on Broadway, Kanyok Arts Initiative, and workshops in Japan, Mexico, Bermuda, and China.

CLASS

A contemporary class blending technical rigor with breath-driven movement, drawing from Limón technique, classical ballet, and improvisation. The class builds through structured warm-ups and phrase work, emphasizing the use of weight as a tool for efficiency, control, and expanded range.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

As an educator, I strive to create a supportive yet challenging environment that fosters both technical growth and artistic expression. I believe in empowering dancers through curiosity, discipline, and collaboration - encouraging them to take risks, trust their instincts, and develop their unique creative voices.

RESIDENCIES

He has taught and created original works for universities, conservatories, and dance companies including UNCSA, Chapman University, Elon University, Limón II, Charlotte Ballet II, and Flight Path Dance Project. With an artist-centered focus, his work bridges academic training and professional practice or transitions seamlessly into company repertory.

COMPETITVE CHOREOGRAPHY

A sought-after teacher, Ashley has helped educated and inspired dancers from top competitive studios nationwide - bridging the gap between studio training and the collegiate and the professional worlds through his experience and industry insight. His fresh, original work for the competitive stage has earned top honors at prestigious competitions and conventions.
